Just a brief note on 009 Dizzy which is not recommended for Type 2s
Centrifugal Advance Distributor: The well-known Bosch "009" distributor is being widely substituted for the stock vacuum advance distributor. The 009 distributor has centrifugal advance only. Some people swear by it; others swear at it! Lacking vacuum advance, the 009 is slower to respond to load changes or throttle opening and thus has a hesitation "flat spot." Many people try to fix this by fussing with the carburetor, when the problem is actually with the distributor.

I guess that would be Gerry from Karman Ghia company Pty. Ltd.
As you will see, even from posts on KC, the 009 is for performance where you need max advance as quickly as possible and Kombi motors cam and timing is not designed to do this. It is a torquey motor with appropriate gearing to suit most conditions.
How much did you pay for it?
You may be able to do swap with Kurt at Fremantle or Bill at Volkswest. _________________ Kombis Keep you Younger

If one happens to have been lumped with a nasty 009 distributor (like I have), and the vehicle exhibits a flat spot, try advancing the timing slightly... to around 8-8.5 degrees BTDC, and adjust points gap to obtain the correct dwell angle of 44-55 degrees. some 009's need the idle timing set at 9 or on the rare occasion even 10 to work correctly.
for correct running, the distributor must reach 32 degrees advance by 3000RPM.
The better option tho still is to get hold of an original Bosch vac advance unit, or one of the new aftermarket Bruck distributors.
Cheers! _________________ A Kombi in need is a Kombi indeed...

Petronix for VW Dizzies works on 009 and 005 (050) dizzies.
Compufire 21100 and 21101 work on 050 and VW vacuum advance dizzies.
Compufire 11100-Y are for 009 with yellow plug wires
Compufire 11100-B are for 009 with blue plug wires.
Being USA based I guess the above yellow/blue is to simplify "resistor" type systems and normal.
