|
|
I was having a play around lastnight on my 67 van an I think I may have blown something but can't find it.
Firstly I was playing with the interior lighting and some small LED lights, I was running these off the existing interior lighting wires.. No problems.
I later attempted to connect a new stereo system and I think I shorted something. No ignition power now and with no ignition power, no wipers, interior lights etc.
I checked the fuses in the fuse box and all appear to be ok. I have lights which must be connected directly with battery, so I have power. Is there another Fuse connecting the ignition ? or some regulator which I may have blown.
Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked if connections at bottom of ignition barrel are connected-
perhaps a little gentle jiggle and push may show something.

Sure is, new interior lights hopefully will be finished on the weekend.
new seats , new exhaust (thunderbird 4 tip) , new stereo (not fitted yet) working on the interior this weekend.
Hopefully have some changes to show off at Afreds next time.

Do you have those old style ceramic fuses that have a small round cone of copper at each end and an exposed piece of copper between the ends?
I recently had a problem with that style on my Beetle. The fuse was there and in place, but it was not passing current because of corrosion.
I removed every fuse, cleaned the ends with emery cloth, cleaned the edge of the little holes in the fuse box, where they fit, pushed the ends in a bit to get a tight fit, then rotated the fuse when it was fitted and sorted the problem.
With that type, just because they are there and not blown, it doesn't mean that they are working. |

Bus has been rewired and the fuse box is all new with the twin pronged new type.
All is good
