THE KOMBI KONNECTION

hi all my name is bob and i live in baldivis ,i have had my kombi a 75 bay for 4 years and love it i am currently in the middle of a half resto sort of clean up and all is going well when i get time i will put some photos on Smile

the outside has just been painted in 2 pac and looks great however i am now a bit worryd on reading on here that 2 pac and kombis dont go well together i will have to wait and see i spose so now i am on the inside part of the job the fun part .........ok i have been in australia for nearly 5 years and have been working up north alot ,my first job in the bush was at a gas compressor station halway bettween carnarvon and karratha and i ended up staying at the lovely nanutarra road house if anybody has ever been there they will know that there is nothing to see or do .i was staying in dongas out the back and went for a walk .i looked into the bush and thought hmmmm that looks interesting about 500 meters away on its own was a red poptop bay well oh joy i spent the rest of the day taking bits of it and hid them under the poptop that had been ripped of and was lying not to far away loads of goodies .............so the story goes like this i had to end up leaving it all there cos we had to fly out fast cos of bad weather 4 years later .... i get a job where we actually drove up and down the main pipeline and the last place we did a job was in karratha so i said are we going to stop at nannutarra for food cos i want to look at somthing ....... we stopped and low and behold still there was my stash ...........i got rock n roll bed hinges two good front seats and those air intake scoop things to take extra air in and loads more and it has all ended up on my kombi so thears a story for you and if anyone wants a resto project it at the back of the roadhouse 1300klms up the track dont all rush at once it has alot of rust and the potop is all ruined but it has an engine and i think its a 2 litre buy for now Wink

Welcome to the kombi konnection Bob. Baldivis is a great area, there are a few kombi folk at warnbro, safety bay,rocky etc. Have you got any pix of your bus mate? We all love pix. You have been in oz for 5 years means you are another pom, am i correct. Dont let that worry you mate, it seems most kombi owners in WA are. Laughing

i will put some photos on as soon as i can mate and i am not a pom i am welsh ...........nothing against poms but there is a difference its a bit like calling a pom welsh he would dissagree i had to say that its a pride thang n all

yeh its strange init i have never been into cars realy nor motorbikes and i dont care for 4 wheel drives to me its all just transport yeh if somone bought a new flash car or top of the range motorbike i would say yeh its lovely but to me they all lack character and i dont know why i love kombis i have no idea i just do its weird but its almost like they are not mechanical ....................god i am coming over as a fruitcake hahahaahh . Laughing

no i wont be coming to german car day cos i am going back to work again and wont be around but i am looking forward to some of the kombi get togethers

honest its worth the trip with a trailer and some good old fashioned inginuity its there out the back like an old fossill or treasure i got a photo of it somwhere i will put it on when i fuigure how to do it just wach out for snakes it would need a bit of digging out
