Next year has been put on hold although Curtin/Muresk are very keen and they have done a lot of press releases over 2008 with photos etc.
There is a difference of opinion on how KK events should be organised and as a result KK will not conduct or organise any events.
Members of KK can still organise events , coffee runs, cruises etc. but KK and Admin will not be involved though all events can be posted on KK.

This was agreed to in principle by Curtin/Muresk and a meeting was planned with Curtins new Marketing Director after the 3rd November.
It was proposed a joint committee be formed with KK and Curtin/Muresk .
RE: KOMBIS ON KAMPUS/ AIRCOOLED ON AVON
MURESK 2009
This shows brief details of these type events both in
Australia and overseas but using the Eastern States as example they would be successful in bringing many visitors to attractive locations such as Avon Valley and Muresk in particular .
Events are held in all Capital cities but are of a one day nature apart from the National VW Show which rotates between the States and couple of shows such as Valla –see URL below.
The major events however become known by the town name or location than “so and so” VW event. This is what we envisage for Muresk.
For example two in NSW are known as Valla
http://www.volkswagenspectacular.com/index.htm
which is at Nambour and Old Bar which is a small historic fishing village near Taree.
http://www.oldbarbeachfestival.com.au/
Their particular events attract VWs , owners and fans from all over
Australia. They have become that well known that they are known in
enthusiasts circles as Valla and Old Bar and advertised as such.
They have attendances in the thousands with the appropriate benefit
to the areas.
Some of the magazine articles, which we can supply, show UK shows of which many are held at famous stately homes and have visitors from all over the world.
Many Europeans drive to UK and display their vehicles and some ship from USA.
A quick “Google” of VW or VW Kombi will show 79 million pages and 1.8 million just for Kombi.
An Australian search only will bring up nearly 450,000 pages- they are the most popular of all motor vehicle net searches.
The VW shows also have the advantage that they do not attract the “hoon” element as most vehicles are over 25 years old and the restored ones are valuable and some are only driven when they go to a Kombi or other VW events.
The success of Kombis on Kampus Muresk 2008 has made members more enthusiastic with suggestions for Muresk 2009.
Dominique Esszig has been very helpful before and after the Event and Ann Marie Lim is enthusiastic with her media releases.
We feel a two day event on a Saturday and Sunday with trade tents, food and drink stalls, kids entertainment-perhaps bouncy castle- as well as RockerCover racing – an exhibition of a VW engine build as perhaps a timed event between Curtin Engineering and Kombi Konnection members.
The local Shire could be supportive with an information tent on Northam and surrounds as well as local Community Groups such as LIONS, Rotary, Spencers Brook Community Assn etc.
Our Forum is hosted by a “free server” and has advertisements which due to “bots” now being able to search text many Curtin ads come up as Muresk has so many mentions and there are often new links to Muresk and Curtin websites.
The forum is seen world wide and is crosslinked to motoring sites in UK Asia, Japan and Europe.
We even get feedback from Russia and other Eastern European countries.
Thank goodness for online translator programmes.
Another suggestion I would like to make it that a guided tour of Campus each day by someone who knows the long history of Muresk as first the Dempster homestead and then as the best Agricultural College in
Australia. This would qualify it as best in world.
The ideal concept would be that Muresk Institute invite The Kombi Konnection to conduct another event similar to past weekend but
possibly in mid November 2009 and we invite associated VW motoring
organizations to join us.
This is to be treated more as a discussion paper and more details can be added as we plan ahead.
It would be preferable if we have something tangible in place by
the end of November as sponsors now need long lead times and most have their 2009-2010 budget in place by 30th June 2009.
Shannons Insurance have intimated they will support again if we
make formal approach.
