Seat retaining bolts -some use butterfly nuts

Semi circle on bolt clips into slot in floor- small "knob" on curved section fits into indent on seat frame- curved section locks over seat frame.
Sorry for photo standard.

Just collected Klaus, gearbox problem was just a worn bush thankfully.  Indicators gave up the ghost on the journey there almost causing me to be wiped out by a ute on the freeway, turned out to be a ignition switch problem.  Needed a new one.  Various other bits and pieces repaired, I have spend $15 short of $2K getting him on the road and to a stage where I am happy with his safety  Crying or Very sad There are still other issues like the chokes not being connected, a noise which Peter did tell me what is was but it went straight over my head (just wait for it to get worse and then get it done) and a leaky diff.  The choke doesn't bother me too much as I let it run for a few mins anyway but does everyone do this?  Do you really need to if choke is connected, I know you are supposed to warm the engine etc, is it a strict commandment or can it be broken

There is also a loud vibration sound at about 80km +, eases when you take your foot off the accelerator and not too bad on very smooth roads, any ideas - just a kombi rattle?

Peter will be hoping I stay away as Oscar is slowly diminishing his toy car collection, although he performed in full brat mode today and has probably been banned from the premises.

Know how you're feeling, just got back from Warwick.
A few bits to do, full beam, indicators (Think the relay is full of water after the rain) bleed brakes and fix speedo, uprate the tyres!
Thankfully nothing serious, Had three of the inspectors underneath having a look at how he's been slammed.  A quick look and then the question

"Do you want to raise it"
"Not really"
"Ok, you're gonna get a lot of police stops, we'll write your document to show you have the 100mm clearance even though it looks too low"
Cool  Cool  Cool

Happy with that, should be on the road soon.
Good bunch down there!
Looks like there will be a few new ones on the road for the meets

JEEZ Di.  $2K?????  That's a whole lot of Kombi dollars.  Obviously you have a Klaus flavoured money tree in your backgarden.  Not!!

And I don't believe a word you're saying about Oscar - he's way too cute and angelic looking to behave badly.....  Shocked

I know Kyra, it's not funny, thankfully my husband hasn't asked how much this weeks bill is (yet), I may have to do a few more hours at the place with no name to balance the books.  Crying or Very sad

And as for that ferral angel, grrrrrrr - he is not my favourite person today.  Evil or Very Mad

Its actually a bit of an old wives tail about warming cars up before you drive, I think it comes from people having cars that cough and splutter when they are cold so they decided it was best to warm them up first.

If you read most manuals that come with cars they say that when you start the car you should drive off straight away and avoid sitting for too long.

You should drive off straight away but not push your car too hard until oil is up to temp.

That way you get the oil up to temp quicker (when oil gets thinner and is able to do it's job).

Basically if you sit and warm up it takes longer to get the oil to certain parts of the motor that need lubrication.

Bottom line, I would drive off a bit of a rough for the first few streets until you can get the chokes sorted out.

BTW I had a look at your bus again when it was at Arnoldi's to check out the problem you mentioned with clearance and the rock n' roll bed.

You can probably move your middle seat forward about 1 inch but it will still not be enough to let the r n' r down.

I am pretty sure that most r n' r beds don't clear the middle seats or if they do it is very tight and means the bed is a bit shorter.

If you need all you seats in for the journeys then when reach your destination you will be able to let off the clamps and flip the rear ones out of the way then slide the seat forward, flip out the bed and slide it back a little once the r nr bed is down.

I know its a bit of a hassle but most people tend to not have a middle seat with a r n' r bed because of the clearance issue.

Hi Di,

I just typed up a half hour long post on how to wire up and set your chokes. Then I bumped something on my mouse and it disappeared. "Computor says no!" So I've run out of time, but it's an easy job. Maybe someone else will post up the details for wiring and setting chohes for dual solex carbies.
I'm off to bed, bloody computors. Half a #$%!@ hour.

Thanks for your advice guys (and for the time taken but lost advice  Laughing , thanks Carol  Smile )

I think we will just have to try the seat set up a few differenct ways when we go away, taking the middle seat out perm is not an option till Oscar is a little bit older as the anchor bolt is behind the middle seat, I did explain the set up I wanted as my original plan was take out the middle seat to get out gear in but is must have been lost in translation.  Then I got told that it all went down ok so I didn't worry about.

Will see how he goes cold turkey over the weekend
