Why are the Lowlights more sought after than the later Bays with the 2L? _________________ Robert and Emma (and 4 kids so far)
1979 Bay Window Microbus (Restoration for daily driver due Xmas 2008 - well, some time in '09
1976 DC (daily driver - when it is running...)
Less were produced than any other Type 2. They were in production from very late in 1967 and finished in 1972.
Can't remember exact figures but should be a reference somewhere on here.
The low indicators and external front steps seem to appeal.

Part of the interest is due to rarity... splits are now too expensive for many, so the next oldest kombi is the 68-72. I personally think they look a little prettier than the later bays, with the long low-mounted indicators, rounded bumpers and side-steps... 68-71 also has oval taillights and curved air intakes which look great. I also like the little differences (the inner and outer doorlocks integrated with the handles, the petrol flap etc). _________________ ....Woz
I have a line on a late 67 Bay window Deluxe in OG paint. The owner is into Barndoors and will sell it to me when he takes his lowered suspension off of it ( I don't do lowered Busses, I off road too much).
I've never shipped to Austrailia but it costs me $4K per bus in a 40' container to get one to Ireland from Calif. Probably price them out of the picture down there. I think I can buy this 67 for about $2500.00.
