Phat bus

Nice!! a 71 bay delux Microbus. What happen to the delux bumper rubbers and chrome VW badge? Is it originally red?
kkombii

"Ruby Dear" used to belong to Rooster, (formerly Freckles).
Badge to follow soon, and I do have the aluminium bumper strips, front and rear, I am getting them polished and to be fitted with out the rubber inserts.
New paint done in November 07.
Having lots of enjoyment and great conversation starter with Ruby Dear.
The Matador

I've just picked up this bus, it's a SA built number, not quite sure what year yet. I had to go to Billabong roadhouse, just south of Carnarvon, to pick it up.

It had popped a plug out of the head and needed helicoiling on the side of the road.

We did that over the weekend and drove it back down. It seems all of the plugs were the wrong ones, so the threads are all stripped and there are another 2 plugs ready to pop out.

Looks to be around a 70-71 model judging by the rear guards.... Good score!
BJ

Good find, long way to go though, sounds like you had fun fixing the probs on the way. Very Happy  That's just the start hey!

PS Whats the latest with the Matador(s)???
The Matador

It was a long way to go, but a steal.

It was a mates, when it packed it in up there I said i'd go and save it.

It has a 40DCNF webber on it a 009 and theoretically an "1800" (Not sure of exact capacity) It will be interesting to see what size it actually is.

I bought it also as a Matador service vehicle. As the Matador I have in WA needs parts taken to various reconditioning shops and until saturday I have only had a motorcycle to cart things around, the Kombi seemed to be a useful addition.

The Matador is going well. I was driving it around while i started stripping it but now it's too stripped to be drivable. I've taken everything out of it and it's now ready to remove cabin from chassis. I've had the rear brakes redone, but its still being dismantled ready to live again.

If anyones really bored on weekends and wants to have a look at the beast I go down every second week or so for the weekend and get to work.
WAY2COOL

Hi Matador I recently met a guy who has a Matador that I believe is complete. He has a business out Morley way. After meeting him I did a bit of searching around on the net re; the Matador ...Very interesting vehicle ...  Kim

Matador - I think it is time for you to start a Post of your Project!  We want progress shots. - Perhaps in Splittie Section (as it does have Split front window) or members pictures...

I was wondering where to put it. It is a split window of sorts.

I have a few photos of the strip down. I'll put them on the computer and load them up. I've got a few drives on youtube if you search for "Tempo Matador"

It's a single cab, It had a massive box on the back that you can stand in though, with 4 doors and 5 windows. I've taken that off for the repair and to get straightened.
Maharg

Just watched a few clips of a 1951 sliver cab Matador on your tube.....

Awesome mate....you are one lucky guy...Ill come visit once someone buys my house in the U.k.

just had a look on youtube also. cool as. look forward to pics of the tempo when you get chance. so...  how many of these things do we have in WA? Cool
Kinga

Had a look at the clips on Youtube.

What a classic, great score.

Was chatting with Peter Arnoldi today and he was talking about how his oldman was a Matador guru.

He thinks he still has a box of Matador special tools kicking around somewhere too.

hi all,

caught up with some of you at muresk, hopefully we can camp next year when our daughter is a bit older, was a good drive up tho.

anyway, found the forum, so i thought i'd stake my claim to being a WA lolight Very Happy

Pretty much finished my van now, it was bought originally just for carrying windsurfing gear, but I have since painted it, lowered it (using my own invention Wink ), and latest mod is a subaru turbo motor. I love the DIY and kombis are so mch fun to toy around with because they are so simple!! Sad

anyway, i have a heap more questions the forum might be able to sort out for me, and hopefuly i can lend some help with anyone doing the same mods Very Happy

and the back... i have painted a little graphic of some beachy smurfs on the back door... after a mate saw the new paint job, and said 'windsmurfer', so now it is the windsmurfer Smiley  if you look hard you can make out the 3inch exhaust tip Very Happy

Hi Simon,
It was great you could get to Muresk.
I had a really great relaxing time, driving with the convoy on Friday and returning home late on Monday after looking at York for a couple of hours.
Keep posting your progress and spread the word about KK.
Best regards

Alan, ( Ruby Dear)
