WA DoVW ROCKER COVER RACING RULESThe rocker cover races will be sponsored by Chris of Idlewild Off Road Racing, Malaga.
These are the rules that have been made from an amalgamation of what other people do.
The wooden track will have a 2.4 metre acceleration ramp and a 7.2 metre run on area with lane barriers.
Cars will be controlled at the start by a mechanism that holds at the front of the body.
The first car that crosses the finish line, or if neither racer crosses the finish line, the one that goes the furthest on the run on area will win that heat.
No stored energy or any other mechanism is allowed.
The racer must move under gravity only.
The racer must remain unchanged during a race.
The racer must have four wheels only, in any configuration, but not in one common line, like a bicycle.
Any type of wheel, axle, bearing, lubricant and combination of wheel types and sizes is acceptable.
Wheels may be inside or outside body of the racer in any combination.
No part of the racer, especially the wheels, may extend in front of the body of the rocker cover.
A racer may be modified on the day, as long as it still comlpies with the rules.
Maximum wheel diameter------180mm. There is no minimum wheel diameter.
Any width of wheel is acceptable.
Maximum length-----400 mm.
Maximum width------200mm.
Maximum height-----200mm.
Maximum weight-----5 kilograms. There is no minimum weight.
Maximum distance from the front of the body of the racer to the rear axle ---300mm. That is to make it fit on the starting grid.
The rocker cover must be from any aircooled VW engine only.
Free, new, rocker covers are available from Richard on 9342 8703. They have been donated by The Vee Dub Centre of Osborne Park.
The rocker cover may be modified, drilled, bolted to, welded to, glued to, etc., but it must remain essentially and recognisably a VW rocker cover.
Decoration is expected, but not mandatory.
There will be prizes for the Fastest Overall, the Best Presented, The Best Decorated, the Silliest, and anything else we can think of on the day.
Childrens' races will be allowed with the use of any bought or home made wheeled toy that fits within the specifications. That is. Tonka Toys, Dinky Toys, Hot Wheels other models etc.
If we get a large enough entry of we may make it formal or it can be freestyle all day for them to have somewhere to play.
To give you an idea of what this is all about, Google----rocker cover racing--- and see what other people do.
These rules are not set in concrete. Changes can be made, but it might be a bit late for this year. Let's see how it goes this year and we can take it from there.
Make a racer and join in the fun. Be creative. Originality may win you a prize.
