VWCV Swap Meet Williamstown Sept 28 2008The Volkswagen Club of Victoria held a swap meet in the seaside village of Williamstown on Sept 28 2008. Of course, I took a camera....
Oddly, despite there being several splits, I seem to have failed to take any pix... in fact, I seem to have taken few kombi-pix...
I am not sure I like the look of a bay without a grill...

Mr Pirate,
Am I right in assuming that the photo just above you and Alice contains the Sierp Brothers masterpiece ???? The pop-top looks familiar!!!

Yep, that is Woger, our Sierp Bros camper.... (I am glad your eyes drifted past the fast blonde in the foreground) It has a quite a lot of lichen and moss on the potop - we have been debating whether to remove it or leave it... (it doesn't seem to be dong any harm though, so we have left it for now...)
Now we have a Sopru to compare it to, I am convinced the solid Sierp Bros poptop is superior.

Actually, there wasn't really much that Alice and I were after that we couldn't get new or from a wrecker... so we bought that old Schweppes crate she is holding in one pic, as well as an old ice box - they will look good (well, better than the plastic equivalent) when taken camping. We love collecting these "new antiques", especially when they also involve Australian history.

I was hoping to... but the stuff seemed to mainly be for beetles, and the second-hand kombi stuff wasn't very exciting (ie I could get it at Volkscourt). I was going to buy new hoses, elbows, gaskets, points etc but it turned out Wolfsburg hadn't brought the "low profit" parts (understandably - they had a lot of stuff) so we left nearly empty-handed.
But it was a great day anyway! Lots of dubs (many more than I photographed), lots of friendly VW folk (we caught up with many people - including Peter (splitfamily) and Sarah). The sun was out so Alice and I went for a cruise further along the shoreline, and visited places we were unaware even existed.... I have decided I want to live in Williamstown one day, it has a lot of maritime history.
