Mate i will ring scotts transport and K&S freighters here on monday morning. If you have trouble i might be able to drive it to Adelaide for you, only 450 ks but it will be a long walk home. But that will be the last resort and remember rego runs out on 4th march, not that far away. You could always get Shaun to reg for another 3 months only cost about 150 bucks.

Rod, maybe your mob who use greenfields could possibly arrange to have it shipped from here to Adelaide and then they could take over. might be something for you to look into your end.

It may be cheaper to freight the kombi on the train.
3 years ago it cost me $980 to get my kombi trucked to Sydney, I know it's about $1500 from Perth to Sydney now...
Alternatively, you could fly to SA and pick it up yourself... the trip across the Nullarbor is unreal

kimba, thats what i would like Rod to do. that would a fantastic trip. after driving the van i would have no hesitation of driving it back. Rod check out Tiger airways, about 80 bucks to adelaide and then the rip of comes, adelaide to mt gambier one way about 140 bucks. but with the tiger air ways you will have to prolly get on the plane in perth at 1.45am and land in adelaide about 6.05 am.

It is a great Kombi drive- get max cover from RACWA and you have no problems--around $120

Ceva (tnt) will charge you about $1300.00 from Mt Gambier to Perth, they are probably the most expensive though. Problem is any car carriers coming from adelaide are transporting new cars made in adelaide so you have to pay the rate they get for bringing a new car over.

Might be worth a PM to Diddlie who checked all avenues when she had Klaus transported from Brisbane.

I moved a Kombi from Perth to ACT just over a year ago. It was a non-runner which complicates transport, so it depends on the situation for the car. It was also around 15cm higher than a 'standard' vehicle to that also reduced the companies that could move it.
I rang over 20 transport companies and got info re the trip, including getting it moved by rail. It was not a possibility on the rail as I had to be a passenger at the time, which I wasn't going to be.
The company I eventually went with didn't have an ACT branch so I had to get it moved to Melbourne, and then get another company to bring it to ACT. Definately ring around and finetune the details for the trip before you start, you don't want a last-minute occurance that you hadn't bargained on!
Total cost for transport (including 2 tilt-tray trips between companies) was $2100. This car had better be sweet by the end of the resto or my wife will divorce me

Hi Rod,
I bought my bus from Adelaide a couple of years ago.
Flew over and drove her back.
Although condition was not as described (ran on 3 cylinders most of the way), the trip was fantastic, very glad I did the trip-advise you to do it too.
Regards,
