Tips Foam seal around motorI've just purchased a foam seal that seals between the motor and body. 76 Kombi. Apparently Is needed to cool motor. May explain why it was cooked last year. Any tips? Where to have the gaps, any sealant or glue. Anyone got a picture of how it is meant to look? |

No glue needed and the joins go towards the front of the bus. you will need another person to help as it makes it easier. i think from memory when fitted mine, the smooth side goes towards the bottom or faces the ground. it fits in quite easily.
Oh dear, i think i have to give the engine bay a clean. just run out and took these.

The tinware and foam seal are designed to keep the engine at correct operating temp. Like a radiator in car which keeps the engine at correct temp it is important that seal and tinware is in place. ----------------------------- |

Your Type 4 aircooled engine is designed to pull fresh clean air in from the top, blow it over the cylls. and cool it and exhaust the heated air inder the Bus. If you don't have your engine seal in place the fan will pull that heated air from underneath and continue to heat up your engine, a viscious cycle. Get the foam seal installed it's needed.
