The Colour of Exhaust Smoke and the Sound of Knocks.Just some basic info to add to the collection.
If my memory serves me correctly.................
Smoke
Blue = Burning Oil (Rings)
Black = Burning Petrol (Running Rich can lead to Blue if left to long)
White = Burning Brake Fluid.(Servo/master Cylinder)
Knocks.
Engine speed knocks are Crank Shaft related. (big end, little end, piston) Half Engine Speed knocks are cam shaft, valve train related.
If you have a knock remove a spark plug lead and you can isolate the cylinder in question as there will be no firing in the cylinder to put load on it.
