Sunshine Coast Cruise 18 OctoberJust a heads up for anyone who wants a cruise this Sunday on the Sunshine Coast.Meeting at the Kings Beach Tavern car park , Kings Beach, Caloundra (Burgess street< kings beach, Caloundra. google maps " Kings Beach tavern" for a detailed map)between 9.30 and 10.00 am. People who come up from Brisbane have the chance to have a break before setting off on a gentle cruise up the coast to Mooloolaba and Maroochydore and returning to Kings Beach, Caloundra around midday. Head back to Kings / Happy Valley and chill / chat / BBQ / swim and meet fellow Dubbers. Should be a good few Kombi's in attendance, both splits and bays, and hopefully a few other VW's. Hopefully a few Familes will come along and the kids will have someone to play with. rnrnKings Beach has good facilities for the kids with play areas and plenty of space to play safely. Hope a few from on here can make it. Keeping it casual..... VW's of a few different types and from a few different forums etc are coming. Just want a fun time without tribalism and politics. Giving everyone a map so they know the route and where to go ........ including details of photo spots on the move and stationary, lay-up points and some guidelines for convoys for those who haven't done many before ......... also gives some mad bastard in a SC ute time to take some convoy snaps and leapfrog the convoy several times ..... This is a rough idea of the route we have mapped out for Sunday ........... starting out at the Kings Beach Tavern, Kings Beach Caloundra....... •Head around Happy Valley to the Nicklin Way •Drive north up the Nicklin Way with a photo shoot of convoy passing underneath the Queen Street bridge •Continue north up the Nicklin Way to a lay-up (outside Stockland Park) •Continue northwards to the Mooloolaba turn-off Then ...... •Head in along Brisbane Road to Mooloolaba using Walan St to by-pass the cafe precinct (this time) .... •Through Mooloolaba head up over Alexandra Headland (another drive-by photo shoot of the convoy coming over Alex Headland) •Travels along Alexandra Pde which turns into Aerodrome Rd Maroochydore •At Maroochydore turn right at First Av then right into the Esplanade and Cotton Tree Pde, driving by the Cotton Tree cafe precinct (drive by photo shoot) •Then back down to Alex Headland where there'll be a park and shoot. rnrnFrom the Alex Headland carpark .... •Cruise down into the cafe precinct at Mooloolaba and do a lap through the bottom car park and up via the cafe precinct. •Heading back down Brisbane Rd, across the bridge over the Mooloolah River and verge onto the Nicklin Way. •Drive south down the Nicklin Way through Warana, Kawana, Bokarina, Wurtulla over the Currimundi Bridge to Currimundi. •At Currimundi veer left into Buderim St and follow this through Battery Hill into Coorooy St and down into Dickey Beach. •Turn left into Beerburrum Street (at Dickey Beach Caravan Park) drive around to Moffat Beach via Elizabeth Street •Turn Left at Roderick St, follow the road around into Edmund St, turning left into King St and travel around Caloundra Headland into Kings Beach and back to the Kings Beach Tavern. rnrnEnd of Cruise and Lunch ............................. Lots of options for that including a pub ........ playgrounds, BBQ's and Kings Beach fountains as well as the Beach itself ......... rnrnHope to see many like-minded people there ........ Family fun and a great location for a cruise ....... even with some idiot in a SC Ute taking pics everywhere you look .....  .....
Have the following to hand out at the Kings Beach Tavern car park before the cruise commences •map with printed directions for people to have with them + a contact phone number if trouble occurs eg breakdown or losing your way.......  .....
•List of guidelines for a convoy so that people who are inexperienced know what to expect and why things happen the way they do in a convoy eg waiting, speed, layups for mad SC Utes to leapfrog the convoy ....... Anyone would think I am a school teacher .............................  ....................
