Stolen '74 PanelThis Panel was stolen on wed 4/3/09 while I was at Alfreds for the Kombi meet. A truck pulled up to an address in West Swan and loaded the panel and took it away, happened about 9pm. There was a witness so we should get more details soon.
I'm a bit angry it happened while people knew I was at Alfreds.
It's a '74 with a late single port in it
Please contact me with any details of a '74 panel if you hear of one.

It hadn't been for sale long - I agree, it may have been a prospective purchaser.... who did you give your address too, or allow to see the kombi?
I don't want to cause paranoia though - it may well have been someone else...
Good luck - this is sad, and I hope you get your kombi back, intact and undamaged...

Picked up a lot of information in the last day.
I bought it a month ago
It was still at the place i bought it from.
I'd cleaned it up heaps and got it started- though wouldn't idle.
The guy there has offered me my money back.
No one had come to see it yet, though every one in Perth knew where it was.
Seems it was a single rear axle hiab. And at about 3-4 pm
The cops have the rest of the information, hope they come up with something.

Hmmmmm, a late-night suggestion - but are you sure it was actually stolen, and not re-sold or just taken away....?
But again - best wishes, it is good that you received a refund, and I hope you are able to find it...

I asked that question a couple of times but the guy insists he had no idea what happened to it.

The reason I asked - by refunding the money to you, doesn't that mean the kombi effectively belongs to him, not you? So unless he then files a theft report - then there is really no theft, just a failed sale...
But it is after my usual bedtime, and I am probably seeing conspiracies that don't exist.... Good luck!

Wouldn't be the 1st time a potential sale of an unwanted Kombi turned out this way.
I had a sale for a split screen all done and on the day when I arrived to pick it up, the owner said his son wanted to keep it and do it up. It's been sitting in the same paddock rusting some more for the last 3 years. I tried again last year but seems the guy still thinks he has what it take to restore a spilt.
Some people think nothing of some thing until they think someone else wants it.
I agree that this guy could have thought it was worth more $$ once you got it running. But this could be a bum steer too and it is in fact stolen too.
