All a bit new to the welding side of things so wondered if anyone could offer some info/help please.
I've grinded out the old, sized up the new, got rid of the sharp filings with a file. Now before I weld these in, do I protect the bare metal edges before I weld or can I just have the two bare metal pieces and weld them in, then grind down, protect and paint etc??
Also, whats the best way to protect the back of the panel I'm replacing? Do I paint it in primer and top coat, or can I POR it? etc?
Any help would be great, thanks

Sorry, I've read loads on this too, but just wanted to double check.
So far what I understand is that I can paint the metal both sides with a weldable primer and then weld.
My concern in more depth is that I can't get to the back of the panel after it's been welded in, so is just a primer going to be ok?
I'd imagine that moisture still has the chance of getting through the primer on the back tho? and seen as there was alot of rust in that area that had obviously got through from the back pillars and underneath I want to make sure it's not going to happen again
Sorry again
