Welcome to the forum- you will find many happy split owners here.
Lots of advice and help as well.
We are having a run to York on 9th March- you don't need a Kombi to come and you can meet and talk Kombis.

Hey Jay
I think the putting back together bit will take some time - best to do it slowly and with care, especially with all that new paint you'll have!
Was wondering what your experience was like so far with the bodyshop that is doing the splitty? how do they go for price and time?
I'm looking for a place that will do prep and paint.
Cheers, Sam

1965 StandardSam,
True, time will be the essence of this rebuild, but my lack of patience is a concern cas I really want to drive it!!
I got to say, JAG AUTO TECHNIQUE (Jorg-Arnd) in South Freo has been brilliant! Considering how bad my van was, he is doing a "top job" and is only about a month behind (due to panels not arriving from over east).
Sam, give me a call on 0411 224 351 and I will give you all the details.

Thanks Jay, I'll definitely be giving you a call when i get a spare minute in the evening (prob next week)... i can feel a restoration coming along!
Cheers, Sam
p.s. I got tailed by a South African guy in Freo at the weekend... he followed me all through the streets and then stopped to ask where he could join a splitty club in WA (i directed him to the good people here!).
Sounds like he's doing a trip round Sith Ifrica in his 15-window splitty fleetline then exporting it here to perth where he intends to live - yay, another one joins the ranks!

Sam,
What sort of van do you drive and did you restore it yourself?
Your a brave man getting out of your car to talk to a South African, they are scary people- I should know, I am one!
Give me a call any time mate.....

Sam,
Wow, you have been to beautiful places....., what beach is that, it looks like 'Two Peoples Bay' in Albany?
The picture below started my love of these vans! I am doing what I can to make my van look like it, such as narrowed/ ajustable front beam (so it will rid at that height) , straight axel rear, those rims, the bumber over riders, it will be painted in same etc. Hopefull at the end of the year all the hard work will pay off!!!
Thanks for the pics, look forward to chating with you soon.
