There is security on campus all the time and it is unusual for "strays" to just drive in-

They will have a Shannons tent on Sunday so please get any info you want regarding their insurance services.
We will update as more info come to hand.

Does anyone have Megaphone? So we can do some "It's rocker cover racing time" sort of annoucements.  Cos I love the sound of my own voice.
Diddlie

Just noticed that the Wave Rock Weekender is on the same weekend as Muresk, could possibly get some people drop in on the way back, mind you they have a full programme Sat & Sunday so people may not head back till Monday.  Worth having some Kombi Show signs at strategic places en route?

also spookily enough the ad in the paper has a kombi panel van in it.
Brookie

There is no strategic places between anywhere and Wave Rock Smile  Smile  Smile  Smile

Sorry about that- Guess I will get all the calls Smile

VLKSWGN

I have put up several posters @ Bentley Campus, and some nob keeps removing them Mad  it maybe some random HSV fanatic who just lost his bird to a guy that drives a V-Dub Cool or on a lighter level it could be a V-Dub fan who needs to take the poster for all the information on the show..........
Piratekombi

Mmmm, I must admit - if I saw that poster, I would probably want to souvenir it...  Cool
BJ

Propably a question for Warren - When people arrive at Muresk campus is it obvious where to go for the camp site?

Some of us are getting there on friday evening (probably dark too?)

Only if you have read the links to maps , photos etc-but I will be waiting for the Friday starters.
What times are you thinking -approx will do.

Will you have a flag, directing people where to go  Razz
Brookie

Diddlie wrote:

Probably a torch- you just follow road in past parking area on left , swimming pool to right, and camping is right next to amenities block on left opposite oval. That is Australian Football size oval-used for cricket also Smile

---------------------------------
VLKSWGN

I will be arriving at 4pm ish, I am meeting at the bottom of Greenmount Hill @ 2pm..........

Steve
Brookie

I was planning to be there about 4pm- we can turn lights on from camping and barbecue area and in Amenities centre

-------------------
BJ

Great stuff Warren.  Just to get things clear about camping, powered sites are available - are these near (or part of) the actual area that most people will be i.e. are powered and non powered options in the same aera?

Another question - Is there mobile phone coverage? (I know it's not million miles away)

Thanks in advance
WAY2COOL

we're planning on being there at 4
G Mac

Ill be at the bottom of the hill at 2.00
and coming up with the rest of the Kombi Konvoy
       ......graham.....
Diddlie

Who is all in the convoy?

The powered sites are next to the amenities block and has large electrical box with approx 6 individual outlets- I suggested earlier that make sure you have plenty of extensions and a few power boards or so you can  double up.
The rest of the area includes the oval etc. There are photos shown of camping area and amenities block from both ends. You could probably fit in 50 unpowered Kombis in area.
Mobile phone coverage OK-there is also a public phone next to camping area.

------------------------
G Mac

I think last time at alfreds we had 4
 Steve,Dave & Tina myself and 1 other ? maybe Kim,I see
  hes getting there at 4............graham
WAY2COOL

We'd love to join y'all at 2pm for a convoy. Is the meet at the Midland servo,Great Eastern H'wy, as previous?
Brookie

VLKSWGN will call me on Mobile when convoy turns off at Clackline.
I will pick you up just before ( 50 metres)  Spencers Brook Tavern at bus shelter -BJ and 66split know it- and it is only 1k to Muresk turn off.

Smile  Smile  Smile  Smile  Smile  Smile  Smile
Diddlie

If I come on on the Friday then we'll join the convoy too, still muchous debatus going on in curtis household, quite possibly might only be me and oscar as middle son is waiting to hear if he is in a sat-mon squash tournament  Twisted Evil

I got a smaller tent just in case as i would still be there at Christmas trying to put up the canvas castle.   Very Happy
BJ

I hope to arrive early too  Cool

The reason I ask about power etc is I know some are wanting powered sites (inc. me) It would be a shame if we are in seperate spots.

With the numbers expected can I make the suggestion that we camp in the vacinity of the power?  If others want to speread out cool - If the oval looks more appealing cool....
G Mac

Yep,servo is same as befor
    Caltex.crn of farrall & G.E.HY (MIDVALE)
    bottom of greenmount hill
VLKSWGN

Does anyone have 2 steel rods, or sumat suitable for holding a VW banner? needs to be bout 1.5 metres tall?

Steve
BJ

Steve I will take a few star pickets (metal poles) they'll do the job!

Does anyone have some rabbit ears (TV antenna) Remember saturday is grand final! I am takin a TV for it......

The kids may want to watch cartoons on sat morning too  Wink
Brookie

As previously shown there is a TV, CD, DVD player in Amenities block -photos even show it and pool table etc.

------------------------------------
Diddlie

And how fast does this convoy go - paranoid i will be too slow, bagsie rear end if I'm there....so I can take some lovely photos of course!!

Diddlie wrote:

That's always my favorite spot in a konvoy - leading is the worst position, you spend the whole kruise looking in your mirrors...
VLKSWGN

The Convoy tends to drift from lane to lane speedin up and slowin down, I think its so all people can get good shots of eachothers busses, its either that or were bad drivers Razz
Piratekombi

A good tip for konvoys (especially when there are overtaking lanes) is to have an aggressive driver at the back, someone that doesn't mind pulling out in front of other vehicles to block them... this is especially useful when there are lane merges - it helps prevent side-swiping from 4WDs eager to get past all the kombis before the lane ends, and also keeps those non-VWs out of the pix! Smile
Diddlie

agressive drivers  Shocked  that rules me out then
Piratekombi

If the front and back kombis have UHF radios (a great investment), they can co-ordinate the lane change... the other vehicles in the konvoy can then move across easily.

Oh, and I should have said "confident" rather than "aggressive" - it is hard to feel aggressive in a kombi! Smile
Diddlie

I don't even have a wired up am/fm radio in Klaus, just a tranny on the passenger seat, roger roger..
Brookie

KK Radio Interview ABC

This Wednesday 10.05 AM on ABC 720 (AM) Geoff Hutchinson who is a car enthusiast will be discussing Kombis on Kampus on his motoring programme.

-------------------------------------
Diddlie

ooooh have you got a guest spot warren??

If people don't know about KK by the end of the weekend I'll eat my hat!
VLKSWGN

Far out, we will be on Today Tonight soon.......... Shocked
Scotia

Crying or Very sad I've got a CB fitted - booo hoooo I won't be there booo hooo  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad
Piratekombi

You can get cheap hand-held 40 channel UHF radios from any auto store.... a pair should cost less than $50. They are invaluable when camping as a couple or group - as long as you have your radio, you are always in contact.

The usual camper channel is 18.
