Just thought I would bring this up again.
It is very important to have your tyre pressure correct.
Quote from Kombi Notes and Anecdotes

7. You don’t have to check water, so no antifreeze, only oil and tyre pressures are the daily, weekly checks. Being rear engined it is essential that tyre pressures are correct. Porsches, Ferraris and other rear engined exotica need same care.

Have seen posts elsewhere on tyre pressures etc. so thought I would again bring this forward.

The Kombi, Beetle etc are basically oversteering cars which means the rear will slide before the front if vehicle gets out of shape in corner or bend.
You can test this yourself by pumping up all tyres to same pressure and try it in a car park even at low speeds or just drive in a side wind.

With the correct tyre pressures the Kombi is no more affected by side winds than most cars.
Many quality and high performance cars have a tendency to oversteer as in hands of good driver it gives more control.
An oversteering car going too quickly for the conditions will spin off in line of direction it was travelling.
An understeering car spears off into the shubbery.

Basic handling and suspension

This Wikpedia article is set out fairly well and in "normal speak".
Some may find it boring but it will give you more info on your vehicle handling characteristics.
