Kombi minor clean

Cleaning your Kombi.

Give your Kombi a surprise with a different type of clean.
External:
1. Take off your front grille and remove leaves etc.
2. Clean the internal plastic screen
3. Lube the hinges on air intake flaps- stick lube will do or CRC
4. Remove headlight rims and clean out insects etc.
5. Same with tail lights- check seals –you can buy new
6. If you have poptop put it up and clean around base and check
pinchweld is secure.
7. Clean gutters at the same time
Internal:
1. Gently pull air vents out at each end of dash.
2. Clean sponge filter carefully- it may fall to bits-if is
still there
3. Make sure air tube is clear-great dust collector if you
have been in red dust of outback

4. Heat and air control knobs- these are usually red/blue
not grotty grey/brown- old toothbrush and bit of vinegar
helps here.
5. Door hinges and locks- again the toothbrush and vinegar.
Front doors, slider and rear hatch locks. Also engine hatch.
6. Gear lever knob- all that sweaty residue needs to go.
7. Steering wheel –same as above.

What's the best thing to use when washing nice shiny new paint work?

Warm water with a carwash-not dishwashing or laundry liquid.
Kitten do a good one.

Don't forget to clean out under the mats - particularly in a Microbus. Once a year (maybe every two years) I am gonna unbolt the seats and remove them, lift the rubber matting out, remove the t-bolts and vacuum out the t-bolt mounts. I don't want this to happen again.

and here's what I swept up from just the middle section:

Might try that list with this one. Very Happy

Phat bus

Looks like the floor of a chook shed!!
Oldfogy

Surprising how it looks with a good clean up, only a couple of minor rust spots.
BJ

Hi Mate, That was a chook shed wasn't it!?

where are you based (you have no location in your profile) I want to see that Split in the Splittie section! Wink

Cheers BJ

Based way over East, I'll post some piccies when I start the rebuild. I have a couple of weeks on another project then it's into the shed with this one.
This is the back floor partly cleaned

The bomb in all it's glory, doesn't look much but it'll tub up pretty well
BJ

Nice looking rat.  Looks like the roof 'll take some work.  Can't find my David Eccles book but it appears to be a Uk bus (low vents) Semephores too. Late 50's. have you dated it yet.  What do you know....

It's a Strayliyan model around 59 and that's about all I know about it.
