Good taste there- yes URL could fit- these are being put together to get feedback like yours and then Steve can give idea on cost etc.

good work steve. i like the loooong t two, also the top round ones and i like the back to back K's. perhaps put the K's on the end of the loooong t? can we get some colour in there??

The round design could also be used on spare wheel covers so other kombi drivers coming towards us could identify quickly who we are. I have no true VW logo (or spare wheel) on the front of my bus so a big round sticker could be the new replacement badge. Maybe even just a big KK inside a round boarder so to look like a replacement VW badge. The web address and wording "The Kombi Konnection" could be in small print running around the brim of the logo boarded?? Then thinking about it, the VW badge is a trade mark of a VW in itself, might be best not to mess with what VW got right in the 1st place. Just some food for throught?
I do like the weathered text style, looks a bit Rat like

Nice work there Steve.
I like the long T one too.
Also like the "KK" logo that is not distressed.
Instead of using the URL you can just say .com
ie.
TheKombiKonnection.com
or
KombiKonnection.com
Dropping the 'The" and the URL is stronger for recall etc and makes it nice and simple from a design point of view too.
It also reinforces the "KK" that we all seem to refer to it as, but you loose the T in "The" that makes the logo we all like so far (maybe you can do it with the "K" instead)
By avoiding the URL you have more options available for things that can be done with the logo like; computer cut vinyl, laser cut stainless steel or plastics (have a badge on your bus not a sticker), computer embroidery for hats, polos or jackets.
By avoiding the need to print you can avoid the minimum orders problem associated with printing.
Keep up the good work Steve.

I like the long T one but I also like the round ones, reminds me on the mod logos. As pointed out it would be a good one for wheel covers.
Great stuff

PS The round ones would be a good option for T shirts too, maybe we could have one for merchandise and one for stickers.

Feedback has died out...... I get the impression that the last round ones are the go!
Do we need a Poll? Or go for the round ones?

I would be happy with the round ones (but i like a lot of the other designs too)
Maybe add ".com" after "kombi konnection" in the outer circle so it helps to advertise the site.

Feedback is a problem with all forums and polls as many only read particular forum sections that interest them.
With .com I think that Dave has that planned and the round ones have real appeal that they can be placed in a number of places and are an ideal template for T shirts, badges, nameplates etc.

My favourites are the Looong Tee I originally picked and the reverse round one as well

That is the first Looong Tee and the first black/white round one.
Though blue and red looks good.

Yes, forgot about the "long T" that was sweet.
The round one has a long k in the "KK" bit.
So maybe a "long K" version like the "long T" and the "kk" in round.
(not even sure if I understand myself anymore)
Then they will both match, so you could use either.
The round ones would go well on flipper windows too.

All this sticker talk got me looking at what other clubs have. The main trend that I came across is simplicity. Here are some that I found:
At the end of the day it has to be something that you are prepared to STICK on your kombi. Is it a sticker you want? or an advertisment for this forum? If its the latter then .COM it
Or as I would prefer a nice bit of design like the last round ones and let them search for the site or ask the question "Whats that all about?"
My vote is the last round one
|
66split
|
Is it a sticker you want? or an advertisment for this forum?
both i reckon. if someone is looking around you bus and spots the sticker i think it would be good for them to be able to jot down the web address.

Hi all, I aint had chance to do the Long T's just yet, as I have friends over from the UK, so patience please!
The plan is to post up the long T along side the last round ones, which narrows it down to 2, and the .com can be added if need be.

I agree with BJ, the last ones you did are the best in my eyes.

They look great! Yep, I think the last ones are best....
I like the idea of simplicity, and these stickers win on that point... but I also think that ".com" to advertise the site might be handy, but not sure how it could fit into the design...
But well done!!!
|
Brookie
|
We need the .com as we are not an incorporated body though thanks to Kinga both kombikonnection.com and thekombikonnection.com
are registered.

Don't die of shock Brookie but I'm posting!Dear KK'ers
Don't die of shock Brookie but I'm posting!
You obviously have some brilliant designs there..... so many in fact that you are spoilt for choice. Any would be worthy.
Any would suit the requirements of stikers, T shirts and whatever else you need.
As for a drying up of feedback as Brookie said some members only go on sections that they like so you may never get all to give the feedback you want.
If you give the KK members a poll and set a deadline then you have given them a chance to vote. Then if anyone does not like what has been chosen then they should not have any complaints if they don't vote.
ASs I said you have spoilt the KK with choice.
Well done guys!
Cheers

mmm, I think they look great.... but I think the words "kombi" and "konnection" need to be pushed together to make the address clearer... but cool designs - they will look great on Woger!

slap some colour on those last two and i reckon were done nice work there steve. what about some business cards to go along with the stickers?
|
VLKSWGN
|
Everyone likes colour, but 1 colour only as this will compliment the design, and not over complicate it!
Dave i kno you like your colour, me to, but you have to understand that the more colour involved, the more expensive it gets...... However, i can compromise, I have a set of 3D glasses at home, I got em when i watched Jaws 3D, any good?
I just thought black and white, as it is middle of the road? someone wight not want a blue sticker on a red kombi, get my drift?
However, you all put it to the vote, and lets see what goes on.
Steve
|

yeah steve was thinking only using one colour per sticker but perhaps a differant colour for different colour buses! but if you and up having to print 1000 of each colour then yeah go with black and white that be cool. i will let you know when i need a 1000 cant wait to get them in the window.
|
Kinga

Thats the shizzle, nice work Steve.
Get it done in computer cut vinyl, no big deal to have whatever colour you want because it is not a print run.
Check out the example of the "Melburg Luft" stickers in BJ's post earlier in this thread. They are computer cut vinyl stickers and have been cut in a range of colours.
Basically cut a sheet in black, then feed through a sheet of aqua and do a few more, then blue, then even Martini Green (aka Baby Poo) for Oberon Viking etc.
I have a mate that runs a sign company that I could ask for a quote on running through a few batches if you want.
He has done heaps of work for me over the years, always top quality and always a fair price.
I have a Calon vinyl colour chart here to help choose specific colours.
I can identify a PMS colour for a lot of them too so people can match colours better.

I'm all for this design too. And as for colour, so long as it's not pink or peach, I'll go with the flow. Even psychodelic would be a fine colour for me.
Hey, maybe that could be a back ground colour with the writting in chrome letters???
Mmm...I wasn't an early 70's child was I, growing up travelling the country side in an early bay? Thinking about it again, it might be a bit difficult / expensive to produce.

Not really difficult, you just print the pattern you want on the vinyl with one machine, then feed it through the cutter.
Would cost a little more, but not a great deal.
|
Phat bus
|
In that case, food for throught I guess and that would get my vote. But happy to go with the majority:-)
|
VLKSWGN

Cut vinyl is quite trendy at he mo, I have a few on the back of my bus too, my opinion is that they only really stand out when the size is large, the melberg luft one's look quite big?

I think we are losing the concept of a sticker- it is like brand identification.
You will mainly showing other Kombi owners you are a member of KK and at 60k+ you won't be reading a sticker but the format will be recognized if shape and colour become known.
It will obviously also be read when vehicles are staionery but it is basically an ID
--------------------------------------------------------------------

VLKSWGN

I agree!

Scotia

I agree, black and white I think will be best. How about putting a kombi in the background of the centre or is that to complicated?
|
Piratekombi

I personally prefer black and white (and white and black)... I think the design is great as is, simple but distinctive and effective... so how much will they cost each? I will want to get several...

I agree...... Keep it simple this .com business if it is gonna have it you need to include "the" at the beginning too

The size will be 100mm diameter, it a good size for a sticker.
The next question is which one, the left or the right one?

Brookie

| VLKSWGN wrote: | Sumat like this

I think the left one is the right one
|

Does that mean the right one will be left?
They both look good.... if they are cut-outs, then I think white might stand out a little more... but the black would be more distinctive...

the left one

why not have both?
like the taco's advert. sorf or hard taco's?? ruins any dinner if you buy hard taco's and you want soft. its split familes apart.
so they put soft AND hard taco's in the packets now.
happy days. familes everywhere or rejoicing.
will they be internal or external stickers? just if only internal you can only stick them on the windows. and not on signboards, or road signs or on the trough in gents loos. not that i'm volunteering for that job. yuck..

ps- i'll bag a few if i could. ready for when i get my kombi. need some dosh first. anyone got any they dont want??

i've not seen any kombi's around my area. but if you fancy dropping in i'll show my combo. its a holden combo. not quiet a kombi. but its getting there. a few more sledge hammer hits to the bonnet and i should have a nice and flat front.
i'm behind the cafe on the beach. then left a bit.

No that's cos I don't have mine yet
There are a couple around, there is one in Clarkson a mid blue ratty looking bay, one in a driveway in Merriwa that hasn't moved for months (considering putting a note in their letterbox to see if they want to get rid)
and there used to be a yellow pop top with a roo bar that lived in quinns but I haven't seen that in ages.
Are you on the hunt for another? BTW nice spot you are in, when I win the lotto I'm going to live in old quinns.

yea i'm after one. but it'll have to wait for now as i have a lot of expense as i've just moved back from uk. i sold up in november, freckles and all.. moved all the furniture back to the uk, i hated it there and things didnt work out so i moved back here in feb. trouble is, i flew back here before the furniture arrived back and now the wife has it all.
there was a delay on the container being delivered.. an infestation of redbacks. so the container hd to transported back to the docks to be fumigated. so that wasa a two weeks delay.
bummer eh.. so i'm refurnishing at the mo. but priorities are in order.. i have my surfboard.
if i get more then 3 friends call round i have to wash the cups. i have only 3 cups.
when you get yours give us a ride.
as for the blue one, i reckon i looked at it last year when i was looking. it was a poptop bay hand painted light blue. in ridgewood. on a corner block. twin carb job. and it misfired when he struck it up and just figured.. hastle..
cut you loose. tea is burning.

A few years back there use to be a brown late modle pop top bay in old two Rocks (in a dead end street not far from the beach) with a FI 2L & 5speed which was transplanted from a T25 Wedge kombi. It drove very well and accelorated up to 105km/hr with no effort at all. It was very quiet too and mechanically a gem. But it's paint was shot and it had rust around the front window. Don't think the guy ever sold it. I think it had alloy rims too. Not sure how far that is from you guys. But be worth checking out.

I used a company in Osborne Park one year when I had to reproduce the exact Bridgestone decal for a vintage motor bike, and the correct fuel and temp font printed on some Alfa gauge lenses I had to reproduce. If you like, I too could also ask about to try and get these up and running, just send me a copy of the artwork of the ones you would like to use to info@trimtec.com.au and I will see what I can do.
