As a big fan of driving with lights on, as a bike rider and when country driving and since the Police encouraged drivers to switch on for safety some years ago with the “Be aware be seen” campaign. I now rig up my lights to come on with my ignition on all my cars, so the inattentive drivers on our roads see me coming.
I implore all the KK community to start switching on their lights to show we are interested in safe driving and saving lives on our roads. Either fit some driving lights and wire them into the ignition or bridge the low beam lights to the ignition, and be seen

I thought this was going to become a law to drive daily with light on, but it faded very quickly. I only drive with my lights on at night when it is dark and when i cruise the highway in the ford. I think peoples got out of that habit very quickly after driving some where and then leave the lights on and come back to flat battery.

Yeah that happened to me a few times, then I bought a VR commodore and the lights went off automatically when you opened the driver’s door. I purchased a 69 beetle to have as a lone car in the family and wired up extra lights in the headlights that came on with the ignition.
Then the Karmann Ghia entered my life virtually as parts in a box and while I was putting in the new wiring harness, I bridged the fuse terminals so the low beam came on with the ignition. I didn’t want anyone running into that one, as it took me quite a while to rebuild it. And it gave me my first personal trophy at a car show at the recent DoVW.
Now the Kombi is sporting driving lights that do the same, I don’t need driving lights so I have pointed them down so they don’t blind anyone but there still noticeable as you drive along. be seen be safe, works for the bikes.
From my experience it does work I have had some near misses as most of my cars have been dark colours and if it wasn’t for the lights being on I would have collected the their drivers door.
I thought the same but I suppose the idea was put out there with the hope that the drivers would see the benefit and run with it, we can’t expect the police service to police something like this they have more pressing things to do than picking up people for not having their lights on.
I could go on forever about the way people drive, my pet hate is merging traffic, I’m sure 95% of drivers don’t have a clue. its a dog eat dog world out there.
So come on all you great KK members out there, switch on and show them we care.

Many country drivers are going back to driving with headlights .
The only problem is the ones that have them on high beam
At one stage all Volvo headlights were on low beam once they were running but this finished quite a few years ago.
It is a good idea Kev and you could start a new wave of headlight on driving in the bush .
