Help! No compliance plate! Can I register Kombi in WA?

Hi all.

I have recently purchased a licensed kombi from Victoria.
I have to take it over the pits here in WA for a full inspection. I went to find the compliance plate in the usual spot behind the drivers seat and it isn't there, not even holes where the rivets would be.
So will I actually be able to register it in WA??
It was registered in Vic (and still is actually) so they must have issued registration at one point with the complinance plate on it.

Has any other West Aussies had problems when they have tried to licence a vehicle without a compliance plate.

Please put my mind at rest  Sad
Thanks

HI Steve,
The Vic registration will help- it may have not been an Australian Kombi.Could be UK or South African import.
Does it have two chassis numbers at rear frame -LH side inside engine bay.
If it has one it was not Australian unless very early model- what year shows on Vic reg. and what is first 3 letters of chassis no.

Kombi with no compliance plate

Yea it is a 1975. And it has 2 vin numbers near engine.
Both start with 234

The one stamped in chassis rail is original German and can be used to verify where manufactured and which port in Australia it was sent.
The rivetted one is Aust.  Chassis no and is on compliance plate when fitted.
Does seat panel look like it has been replaced.
Perhaps seller has more info

I FOUND IT!!

Embarassed  Ooops. I have just found my compliance plate. It was "hidden" under carpet which was pasted over the drivers seat panel. I had only heard that they were affixed to the drivers door pillar.

Thanks to those who added to this thread.

(I added a picture for general interest showing where my compliance plate was found)

I wonder what sort of dramas I would have had if I had not found it.

Cheers all

New Kombi on the roads of Perth

Hi all,

My Kombi passed its vehicle inspection today. Boy what a relief!
They pointed out a few minor things but said I could fix them at my leisure.
So the quest to buy my kombi which started about 6 months ago is finally realised. Now I can get down to the good stuff like fitting out the interior and going camping in it.
I'll post some pics of it on KK soon and look forward to giving and receiving "the wave" from other Perth Kombi drivers.

Congrats on inspection- now you can drive and enjoy while fitting out
