Greetings from Perth

I'm a new member in Perth. I recently attended the Bush Baja in Northam and enjoyed seeing all the great vans on show. Alas, I do not currently own a VW, although I've had a Jetta in the past and drove a decrepit Beetle for a while as well many years ago.

Looking out for a solid, aircooled T3 bus to convert into a camper. "Why oh why an air-cooled T3?" I hear you say? It's just a love affair of the air-cooled motor that goes back more than 30 years or so since I was a kid.

Enjoying reading all the blogs. Look forward to getting to know you guys and ladies.

Cheers!
Keith

Very Happy

Alice and I have been discussing getting (one day! not soon) an aircooled T3 camper (1980-83)... I love them! They look better than the later wasserboxers (with no radiator on the front) and sound like a kombi should. Smile  All the advantages of the bigger, more solid T3 combined with the ease, reliability and simplicity of the aircooled engine.

Good luck with your search - and welcome to the Kombi Konnection! Smile

Thanks for the warm words of welcome all!

I agree, Pirate - there is nothing like an air-cooled VW engine sound! It is sooooo different to anything else on the road - sort of relaxing and reassuring to listen to on a long lonely road. I have wonderful memories of riding in the back of Variant (squareback) 1500 in Zimbabwe driving long miles on strip tar roads to the nearest farm stall to stock up on supplies for the month. It was such fun to ride in the trunk and look out the window at the bush scenery and listening to the rise and fall of that cool engine sound.

Confused

Got to get that T3 - I'm having withdrawals!!! (After about 30 years mind you...)
