GPS

Just bought a Navig8r M43 GPS- will probably have to get my 10 year old grandkids to show me how to operate it- instructions are long enough to suit a car .

Are you using a GPS in your Kombi?

Kombi Dad does it very well with his camping spots showing photos, maps, details and GPS references.

Thanks Aaron-had idea you had that model-fully charged and set up now- have to go somewhere to try it Smile
My main problem was getting stylus out-very stiff and did not want to force it

They have a forum as well and Australian owned Smile

I use an Acer n35 GPS in the kombi but prefer a handheld Garmin when out of the vehicle.  The n35 runs a product called CoPilot Live.  I have found that it tracks better using an external antenna than the one built in to the n35.  Apart from that I have had no dramas with it.  It is old technology compared with the newer devices but works well.  The in car system does not give the shortest route even if you select that option but does get you there.  Works for me.

I was given a Navman S30 as a gift..... small but quite useful - much better than a street directory! It is probably not the brand or model I would have chosen, but it is surprisingly useful (despite the occasional "odd" suggestion...)  I usually carry it everywhere, not just in the kombi.

I use a Garmin 680 which has both maps for the US and UK. I used it 2 months ago to go to a VW club's AGM in the south of Ireland. I drove 178 miles 1 way and was on no road for more than 13 miles. It worked Brilliantly! I so enjoyed my trip not needing to check maps etc. I had to change the coordinate language and just entered the coordinates and went straight to the front door. I'm thinking of downloading "Mr T's voice for my Garmin. Can just hear it now " Turn left NOW FOOL!!!" Laughing

I don't know what sort it is, but my Dad's GPS has a selection of voices and "characters" you can pick to give you the directions. There is one you can pick that abuses you when you ignore the directions...  Laughing
