GioVANni back from paint shop

Grandsons 70 Lowlight with new paint-only interior to do.

Keith D

Wow! That looks very, very nice! Love the two tone - Keith D
Diddlie

really nice!  is your grandson pleased with it! I bet he is stoked  Smile
Piratekombi

That looks great!!! Smile

Are those seats originals? - we have the same in our 72... if they are original, why did later bay seats usually have no head-rest?

No not original- not sure of make but will be pulling them out to put carpet under-they have armrests Confused

Piratekombi

Ooooh, they mustn't be the same then.... the headrests look similar though.  I haven't seen any others quite like our's so assume they are from another make.

Where did you get the mesh lens-covers, btw?  I am keen for some...
Brookie

Mesh covers were on it- they used to be available everywhere-probably Repco may still have them.

Hey Woz,

Re: headlight stoneguards.

I have bought a lot of stuff for my vintage cars from this mob and have found them very good:-

Brookie that looks lovely.  When is Giovani gonna make a trip out for us all to see?

Any interior plans?

Emo is still on Ps so it will be a while- we are installing a R & R bed-original type and it will then become a work in progress.

Update on trim and seats

How it was

Original 70 seats-refaced only and VHT'd

Curtains

Piratekombi

Looks great! The 70 seats came up looking good - I think they are shaped better than the non-originals. I really like the way the door trim came up, too! Smile
Diddlie

Really nice job there, Marg has been weaving her magic again with the curtians!!

Just seat / bed at moment and room for surfboards, cricket gear etc.
It will be a "work in progess" with little bits and pieces my grandson can learn to do himself.
Object was to make it a presentable, safe vehicle for him-not a show car resto- within a budget set by his parents.

Is the vinyl paint pricey?
Does it wear off or peel?

Pretty sure it's "VHT Dye", not a vinyl paint.

So it won't wear or peel.

It can be used on carpets too.

Back in the day, Ford wanted black seats for their GT Falcons but for some reason didn't have access to any, so they used VHT dye to make brown seats into black ones (so the story goes).

Pretty good testimony for how well the stuff works I think.

It is about $16 per can-sometimes $14- Malz seems about the cheapest.
Colours available now only seem to be black, white, red and grey.
You would need about 4-5 cans to do your back seats.

It is true about GT Falcons having their seats and trim done as mentioned by Kinga.
