Subject: German Car Day 2009
Dear Fellow German Car Enthusiasts
The Mercedes-Benz Car Club has appointed me once again to be the organizer of this year's German Car Day.
As always, all other car clubs and individuals with an interest in German cars are cordially invited to participate. (This invitation is of course really just a formality – I understand that all of the major clubs already have the event in their calendars for this year.)
At this stage, it looks like the details of this year's event will be similar to last year's event (apart from the weather, we hope). However, we are also looking at adding a few extra features to maintain everyone’s interest and enthusiasm. I have just received confirmation from the Shire of Northam that it will be providing some limited funding for the event (as per last year), and I have already arranged some other sponsorship. There are also some other things already on the go.
I now have a request of the other participating clubs. The committee of the MB Car Club believes that it would be a good idea for some appropriate representatives of the participating car clubs to hold a (fairly short and informal) meeting, some time in the near future, to discuss German Car Day. The main emphasis of that proposed meeting would be on discussing this year’s event, including some of the proposed extra features. Another topic on the informal agenda would be some advance planning for the future of the event after 2009, and I have already had brief discussions with some members of the Porsche Club about that topic.
I will be heading overseas on 17 June until early July, so I think the ideal time to hold the proposed meeting would be some time between the end of the forthcoming June long weekend, and 16 June. At present all dates in between those dates except 10 and 13 June are convenient to me.
I have two suggestions for possible venues for the proposed meeting:
1. The Melbourne style small bar in the basement of my office building at 21 Howard Street, Perth (the bar’s called Andaluz) (open every night except Sun, but probably too busy on Fri and Sat nights).
2. The Rhein-Donau Club in Myaree (which is open every evening except Mon and Thu nights).
However, these are only suggestions.
Could you all please let me know whether your club is interested in attending the proposed meeting, and, if so, which possible dates and venues (including any other possible venues you might wish to suggest) would be convenient to your club’s representative?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Jeremy Ludlow

From MB Club webpage

All fans of German cars, of any make, are welcome to join us at the eleventh annual German Car Day, sponsored by Shannons, to be held again this year at Northam, on Sunday 26 July 2009.
We are pretty laid back in our definition of "German Cars". Our definition includes all cars marketed under a German brand name (wherever designed or built), and also all cars designed or manufactured in Germany.
So if you have, eg, a Mercedes-Benz made in South Africa, a Porsche made in Finland, an Audi made in the Czech Republic, a BMW made in the USA, a VW made in China, a Goggomobil made in Australia, a smart designed in Germany, or a Ford or Holden designed or made in Germany, please bring it along!
German Car day has always welcomed the rarer, quirkier German brands, such as Borgward, Horch, NSU and Messerschmidt. We happily admit other, non-German, cars marketed under a brand associated with a German brand (such as the BMW-owned Mini brand). We also count VW Kombi vans as German "Cars", so you can expect to see them as well.
The German Car Day cavalcade will assemble at a new departure point, in the car park at Centrepoint Midland near the MuzzBuzz outlet, at around 10.00 am. There, cavalcade participants will be able to obtain an itinerary for a scenic drive to Northam via Gidgegannup.
Participants can also drive straight to Northam.
On arrival in Northam, the cars will be displayed at Bernard Park, by the Avon River. Participants will be able to have lunch at a number of eating establishments in Northam, or bring a picnic lunch.
There will be showbags containing information about Northam, a raffle ticket, and various promotional items appealing to lovers of any German car.
Adjacent to Bernard Park, the Porsche Club will be staging a motorkhana. The Shire of Northam will be arranging some other activities for the day. Our thanks to the Shire of Northam for its support.
Further details about German Car Day will be posted on this page as they become available.

Would love to head up to York first, but have to work the Saturday, and i'm arvo's so cant even head up after work.
So planning on the convoy up on the Sunday.
All booked in to see Kurt a few days before so should be running sweet, just need to sort out the extra parts on the oil cooler before getting that done.
Got to tell you though, since Jacko started, Elvis has pulled his neck in a bit.
Looking forward to catching up with people, been a long time coming.

A couple of options for you all:
1# Meet in Sawyers Valley at 1pm at the Peak Servo - Drive to York Camp the night at the acaravan park and then onto Northan in the morning.
2# Meet us in York Saturday eve/night
3# Cruise straight to Northam Sunday morning...
Hope to see a few there on Sunday at least
