Engine crankcase sealing

The VW Manuals say VW Crankcase sealing compound but LOCTITE 574 flange sealing compound seems popular in some areas
I have found Permatex OK but all componds should be used sparingly.

Check with supplier such as Coventrys, Repco etc and they should be able to supply correct Permatex type.
It must be a sealant compatible to alloy or magnesium cases.
