dreaming of restoring my "daily driver"

Hi,
I'm kimba. I've had my 74 dormobile camper for just over 4 years now. She was a 21st birthday present from my Dad. I've never been a fan of the pop top, and have never actually bothered to use it. I've learned in the last couple of days that there seems to be a bit of a dormobile fan base in Australia, but unfortunately I'm not one of those fans, so when my partner and I restore her in a couple of years (will be getting a car loan to do it, as we'd have to get a loan to buy a new character-less van anyway) we'll be chucking the dormobile roof. Hoping to restore back to the microbus roof and do away with pop tops altogether, but worst case scenario we'll put a straight up and down pop top in there.
So that's me, and my kombi Smile

Welcome to the forum- Dormobiles have quite a few fans around.
Lets see some photos when you get a chance.

Thanks. I will get some photos up. I have a new laptop and I'm running Linux, I'm not a technohead so I don't know how to get the photos from the camera to my computer, and then from the computer onto here, so I'll ask my partner to help me out sometime in the next couple of days.

To transfer from computer to forum most use Photobucket.
It resizes and is a good storage site.

Is there some other way to upload photos to this site? Photobucket isn't working for me. I select the pictures I want to upload then it carks it. It's making me really angry so I'm giving up before I burst a blood vessel!! I'm not great with computers!

Good to see photos up- also the ones showing poptop mechanism- I think the one I saw yesterday is also a Dormobile.
Is yours Australian built- do you have two chassis nos?

I've never taken an interest in cars before now, how do I find out if there are 2 chasis no.s?
There is a little plate behind the driver's seat that has something about it being manufactured 11/74 and meeting Australian Safety Standards. I was looking for the M-plate to find out if I could decode the numbers to see what colour and upholstery was used originally. I'm pretty sure that's not the M-plate though. It does have what I think is a chasis no. on it.
Maybe I'll just bring her to an event and you can find out technical stuff by looking at her (and tell me what it means also!!?)

My partner is home from work today so I'll get him to put the pop top up and get some pictures of that also. I can't put it up myself, I'm too short  Embarassed

If it is Australian it won't have M Plate- the one behind drivers seat is Australian Compliance plate.
The chassis number is on chassis rail just below coil on engine and if Australian assembly will have one number stamped in the metal and will probably start with 234- If Australian there will be another narrow plate rivetted above or below this with similar type number.
