Diddliebus update
It's all getting a bit closer, here is the latest shot of my kombi resto. My initial colour scheme was white and pink but the kids disowned me so I have gone for a more sensible option. I still have my pink and white DIDDLIE number plate to accessorise though!

Looks great!
It must seem weird to see your kombi stripped and repainted, looking so different...!
So what timeframe are you looking at for completion?
|
Diddlie
|
Still looking at around Feb by the time it arrives over to Perth but then we'll have a whole lifetime together!! Awwwww
|
Brookie
|
Looks good-like the colour- you will at least have it for
Type 2 @ Toodyay 2008.
Perhaps you should buy Freckle to get some Kombi practice

Nice - Did you do a lot of the putting back together? 'cos thats the best part!!!
|
Diddlie

Fraid not, I'm having to pay for the pleasure of someone else getitng to do it , I can't even put a plug back together.

starting to come together there diddlie...looking good...what colour blue is that by the way?
|
Philia
|
Diddlie might be worth aking Kombis in Paradise for some touch up paint as dark colours show up the stone chips badly.....and a tiny bit of touch they disappear
|
Diddlie
|
Will do, I thought that would be the way to go when you mentioned about your chips!

Getting a bit scared, now that it's reaching the end of the line, I'll be too freaked to drive it, I'll just stare at it and rub a fluffy cloth over it!

Hi Di I brought the ute from Tassie with AutoTrans Express.I requested they put it in a covered rail carriage to save it from the loco's diesel spray.Very happy with the service.Picked it up in Kewdale or they'll home deliver.Sure is a beautiful thing ya got yourself ...Kim

hi di, the bus looks great. i was thinking rail also. then maybe hubby could go and drive the bus back.
depends on rail cost of course. maybe one way flight and petrol back could be cheaper.

Lee hasn't even got a manual license Brian, only auto. Believe it or not he only learned to drive when we first moved here and that was the quickest way, we lived in the middle of a city in UK and he walked or cycled everywhere. So far my quotes are ranging from $1600 uncovered to $2400 for fully enclosed, all these are road quotes.

I know Qld. Rail send containers to Kewdale. Maybe try them too.
I would think Johnnie would have some good contacts to get it from Qld. to Melb etc.
Maybe you might have to do a two stager.
Hope you can work it out soon.

Thanks guys will give them a go too.

Hey Di,
Have you tried Finnimores (think that's how it's spelt)? I use to use them a fair bit for car transport from Melb to Perth. Think they go all round Oz.
|
Diddlie
|
Yes I think they have been taken over by Toll, I am giving them a ring on Monday as they have come back with the best price for a covered option.

Thanks Kyra, hope to see you on the site a lot more now you have found your way back, there are not many kombi girls on here.
Good to see your website in full swing, I will be decking the family out in new T's to match the new kombi. When will you have the hats ready to look at. I would love a kombi bucket hat for my youngest!! SORT IT!!

Yep, agree. We need as many Kombi chicks as we can get. A few of them seem to have fallen off the radar a bit recently. Busy lives I expect.
I have the Hats - just need to take some photos of my ferals in said hats. Will happen this weekend and will get photos up on the site ASAP. Just for you.

You will have to complete Statutory Declaration if you don't have sufficient paperwork and Dept of Infrastructure will send enquiry to Queensland equivalent and want proof of ownership or how and when it was aquired especially if it was not registered.
Hope it works out OK.

Arrived at approx 8.15 just as we were leaving for school so the kids were late...neighbour was just leaving too and was saying to her hubby come and check out this fab kombi, not realising it was mine, she then informed me that they spent a year in one travelling round england and her husband did his apprenticeship on one - how very handy!!

Couldnt get it to start, I am a mere female and couldn't get the key to turn! My friend popped round for the unvieling and she managed first time, got the hang of it now..had to ring Brookie to talk me through a few things, thanks Brookie - and am booked in for the pits next Thursday - that was the first appointment they had so I'll just have to sit in the carport and pretend.
Happy to have "Klaus the Kombi" as part of the Curtis Clan

Rang the Licensing Dept this afternoon as I am still waiting for an invoice as proof of purchase and they say I once I fill in the stat dec I will have to wait up to a month for them to do their investigations before they will allow me to have it registered. Can't say I am very happy at the prospect of this
