Day of the Volkswagen Western Australia 2008Day Of The Volkswagen 2008 is the 30th November- extract from Via West2008 Day of The Volkswagen Contributed by Rod Thursday, 08 May 2008 November 30th - G.O. Edwards Reserve, Victoria Park The Day of The Volkswagen Committee recently decided to try lock in to the first Sunday in December annually, subject to Vic Park Council approval. Unfortunately Sunday 7th December 2008 is not available, so the committee is hoping for Sunday 30th November as 14th December was thought to be too close to Christmas. Please watch this page for an updateThe Day of The Volkswagen (DOVW) was first held at McCallum Park at the Causeway in the early 80's, but because of the lack of shade was soon moved to The Wanneroo Showgrounds. Then it was the remote location that after 2 years saw us move to The Esplanade in Fremantle, but so did a number of car shows and the ground soon deteriorated. The DOVW then found a home at Burswood Park, but that venue caused problems when it clashed with the Christmas Carol's night. So with the help of the Vic Park Council, the home since 2004 has been G.O. Edwards Park (opp Burswood). This beautiful location provides both shaded and open areas. The event, though organised and underwritten by VW Club of WA Inc, is open to the public and is not restricted to Volkswagen branded vehicles. Any vehicle belonging to the Volkswagen family - Audi, Seat, Skoda to name a few is welcome. The DOVW is based around show & shine, but the purpose of the day is to bring together like minded people to share experiences and to show what has and can be done.
