Cutting outThe last 3 days in the trot, Klaus has just cut out when I have come to a stop at a junction or whatever (not stalled just cut out totally). He starts up again straight away, any ideas, will he just get progressivley worse...

Something to do with idle....? Or maybe one of the vacuum hoses got bumped off? Or it could be the battery, fanbelt or alternator even? (eg a drop in revs leads to a drop in voltage...)

Di, can i ask how and what you do when you first start klaus up in the morning? Then when he is going, how he idles then etc?

Could be idle setting or even tension in throttle return.
Are you getting full throttle?
While you hold accelerator down-engine off- have Lee check if he can open throttle any further at carby end. If so you can adjust at end of cable.
Idle adj etc.
This link is excellent with pics- most you are looking down on carbs

Brian, first thing it's touch of pedal then start up first time off we go, idles fine. Bit later in the day with just a turn of the key he seems to miss a bit till warmed up, idles ok though. Seem to have full throttle when warmed up, I'll need to look at a the pictures to see what you are talking about

Di, i used to have trouble with bessie when i first got her. i used to jump in and pump the ex pedal and flood etc. that problem has long gone, i jump in pump the ex pedal gently, put on my seat bet, turn the key and listen to the elect pump for a bit and turn the key. she starts first time every time. i used to just take of, but then she stopped at the first corner. so when i start i just let idle for a couple of minutes till the auto choke goes of and then away i go. if you start klaus and let him warm for a minute, take notice of the idle, if a bit slow when warmed up, possibly need a little bit of a turn up.
check this site out. it will show oil change etc. but if you hit the search button you can find out all about carby and tune and every thing else.

One thing I should have added, it only seems to cut out once a day as if to say "this will keep you on your toes ", tried looking at wiring to carbs, everything looked ok, not stressing, just think it is weird that it is only once a day, even though he can have covered say 70kms in that day with various journeys or just 10km, he will still make sure he gets a little cut out in!
He had almost won the heart of my eldest but now he is back to being a c**p heap.
Merry christmas everyone

Check idle cutoff solenoid n swap if you can find someone with one that is known to be a goodie[the solenoid]. replace the wire that goes to solenoid in case it has a break thats not obvious. Check wires in and to dissy for possible internal breaks.[just a process of elimination].
cheers

I agree with the Idle solenoid but think that if you are still running points that the gap has closed down and they need to be adjusted or replaced if they are pitted.
