Cleaning inner arches of Australian spiders. After registering our 64 Notch in the U.k from spending all its life in Adelaide, i wanted to remove all of the red dust, that was sitting within the rear arches, preferably with out physically removing the rear arches.
Once i had removed the rear lights i saw signs of spiders....
From all the stories of Australian spiders i was very grateful that my arm would not fit in the whole where the rear light went, where as my girl friend has little arms.....

oh my GOD!!! which spider did that????
i work on 100's of cars some of them are totally infested with spiders!
once i had a car on a hoist (about 3 months ago) i turned round and a big redback was at face height, i screamed, the other guys came running over, it was huge! so not wanting to harm it i put it in a large coffee jar, as i walked from under the car into the light it JUMPED out of the jar and onto my bare arm!! i screamed again the others all ran off, i shook it off and it scurried into the metal work of the hoist! i'm guessing its still there, i now know why the other guys spray well with CRC, i now use the coffee jar with a lid!!
that pic has me REALLY worried now, thank bj, you're a mate!!!

Spiders can be dangerous though most will avoid contact if they can.
At least when you look at old VWs or any cars that are of the "barn find" type spiders and webs are a good thing- they don't live in wet places.
The 56 splittie we rescued some years ago had moss on the outside but was full of spiders and even an ant's nest so minimal rust.

We found this redback behind Alice's number plate... we often encounter them around the house - they have set up a large nest in the pantry.

They are a nasty spider- won't kill a healthy adult but can make you very sick and not good for young kids or dogs
Dose of carby clean will help

My partner was bitten on the face by a redback when he was working in the roof space of a house (he's a sparky... or WAS a sparky )
He reckons it's very painful, and he could feel the venom pulsing through his face with every heart beat (which would have been understandably fast at the time). There's no scar like there could have been if it were a white tail, but now I'm the one who deals with spiders in our house.
