Camping with your Kombi

What do you take when you go camping in your Kombi- do you have tent as well?
Camp in Caravan Parks only or bush camp?
What spares do you take?

Do you prefer short trips like long weekenders or a couple of weeks or so?

Let's hear your feedback.

I tow a trailer when we are out and about.  We like weekends away as well as extended trips.  We mainly bush camp and are self sufficient.

We do not have any extra tents but do have a roll out awning (Fiama) for which we have made walls.  This acts as an enclosed annex when the weather is bad.

As we tow the trailer, I carry a fair range of spares.   I carry oil, gaskets for oil change and rocker covers, fan belt, coil, spark plugs, bulbs, air filter (paper element), fuel filter, oil filter, spare fuel pump (electric on '82), fuel pump relay, wheel bearings and assorted small items. I also carry timing light, Volt/ohm meter, feeler guages, proper auto electrician crimps pliers and assorted crimps, auto cable of assorted ratings, jumper leads (with suppressor), grease (bearing and CV), torch, tyre repair kit, air pump, etc.

Also in the trailer will be folding chairs, table, folding solar panels, fishing gear,  fossicking gear, portable toilet and toilet tent, a couple of tent flys, tent poles (to set up flys for shade if required, portable brazier (made from 9Kg gas bottle), smart battery charger, power leads, kitchen utensils, BBQ plate, bow saw, axe, ropes and assorted tent pegs.

The brazier looks like this:

We cram everything into the kombi, tent and all the stuff you need to keep 3 kids of different ages happy.  We camp at powered sites but I would love to go bush camping and be self sufficient.  I like weekenders close by or longer stays further afield.  We are going to moore river for the weekend at the end of Nov, should be nice.

We are camping at Moore River this weekend, fingers crossed for nice weather.   Going back to the UK next Sept for a holiday so not many camping trips on the cards till then as we have to save the $$$.
