Camping in the SierrasThought I'd share our last Splittie camping trip.
Had a nice trip up the hill about 1.5 hours North East to Bear River lake . I drove up some beautiful roads and the bus ran great.
We stopped for some supplies and made the lake just before dark. I tossed a lure for about 20 minutes with no success so we headded for some greener pastures and some fun off road driving for me.
The forrest roads got narrow in places and I almost bumped Chris's head off of the ceiling a few times so I slowed down a few times. I think I heard her say something like " you're not going to go down that!" a few times but I had fun and kept it safe as well.
The pictures do nothing to show the steepness of the road, I was in first gear most of the time and very happy to have reduction boxes for the low gearing. We found a camp spot at the end of Chris's endurance but it was a nice out of the way hunters camp spot. I backed thew bus in and tried to make it level by driving up onto a small piece of wood. In doing so I dug a bit down with the rear tires.
There was plenty of fire wood around but I didn't have enough water to put out a fire so choose not to have one. I did find a cool log and took a picture in the daylight and one at night.
We had a nice dinner and sat around in the cold ( Chris said that's how they camp at home???) and played Rummy and Black jack for awhile until we turned in.
Woke up and hit the road home and got some work done. It was great fun and made me realize what I have and what a blessing it is to live so near the Sierras.

The Sierras look absolutely fantastic, that is what I call a camping spot. How far from Door to camp was that trip?

We are really blessed to live so near this great mountain range. I'd say it was about 60 miles up there and the last 3 miles were the most fun.

You are correct, I don't do lowered very well. Fantastic resto pics on your 66 Single cab by the way. You are really doing a top notch job! Thumbs up!
