President of the Splitscreen Volkswagen Club, Nigel Isted bought his VW Camper 12 years ago for a mere £650. Several years on, he is now the embarrassed driver of one of the dodgiest vans on the VW circuit and fed up of being ridiculed about the state of his bus ! Campervan Crisis taps into the rapidly growing VW scene and follows Nigel as he embarks upon a restoration project that proves to be one of the toughest challenges of his life. With a hugely ambitious six month goal in mind, Nigel aims to turn his cherished 'Dipsy', as she is affectionately known, from a beaten up old wreck, into a stunning, 100bhp (brake horse power) bus with attitude! He also hopes to achieve a quarter mile at the famous Santa Pod Raceway in less than 18 seconds - previously Dipsy has only managed to splutter out 13bhp in a sluggish 27 seconds.
