i dont think that would be original, looks like you have a little job on your hands. maybe a vicegrip or the likes. may even need a little heat to help move it. hope you getit out ok.

This bolt is correct. it locks in so you don't need to put a spanner from under neither while your undoing / tightening it from the engine bay. it this a type 2 motor you have ie 1600cc or a type 4 (1.7L - 2 Ltr)?

hi dave, the bolt has a nut on the other end which you can undo from in the engine bay should be 17mm head size .

Good luck with that bolt! Its a tricky one. Trying to get to mine on the 1600 in the 72 was hard work, and that has a huge engine bay.

I believe the 2 Ltr injected is actually easier to get to than Mustard's 1600cc type 1 motor with the upright fan housing. The 2 Ltr injected motor is very flat and therefore easier. But I think you will need to remove your aircleaner and your plastic induction pipe work from memory.

hi i have an idea that worked for me getting the bolt out is a bit fiddley but putting back was a real pain
i wrapped the bolt shank with plumbers tape until it needed a tap from a hammer then it would not need a spanner held on it that made it simple to do up as it stuck in the hole
good luck
