Another new member!Hi guys and girls...
Great site your running here...After looking for a split since arriving from the uk nearly 3 years ago just bought a 67 split ready for restoration. Found it in a barn in chittering where it had been sitting for almost 6 years after spending its life up north...so is almost rust free..which is a miracle...however is in a sorry old state, but nothing that cant be fixed
Anyone using the site originoly from the uk, i used to work for a company called small car specialties down in dorset which was a VW beetle and bus restoration workshop run by a guru called john devereux in the early 90's where i was pretty much responsible for the welding and bodywork...although did pretty much all other things dub related.
Anyway, i look forward to meeting you all eventually and will be posting to find help on sourcing parts here in oz, as although i can find everything elsewhere, new and second hand parts are going to be well desired locally. Plans for the split may change but so far am planning a full cal style resto, keeping the originol look but with up to date colours features etc. Will keep you informed with progress and will along to a meet to catch up with you all. Im based in the northern suburbs in woodvale..right round the corner from the pub...nice!!!

We are probably going to have another run in the near future so keep a lookout in the Event section 'cos we normally post em up.

cheersThanks for the welcoming guys and girls. Will sure need your knowledge so will no doubt be posting up stuff pretty soon. Going to tackle mechanical stuff early on as by the sounds of things, suspension lowering and stopping power has come on a long way since i did it. We used to just cut, guess the angle turn and shut the beams back then...it was pretty brutal!

HI Daza and welcome to the sunny west.
After a while you will "get" the aussie sense of humour.
Like give the Pom the boot, or Put a Pom in the boot and throw away the keys
Translation: we love you maate! It's your shout!!
I do, I'm married to one, ( and very happy), after all she found and bought and reconditioned Ruby Dear for me.
Welcome from

ThanksThanks guys..and girls. Already been busy getting bits sorted for the bus. Just bought the notchback which was for sale on the forum recently ($500)for future plans on the bus. Its on axle stands now, engine removed etc. Im hoping it shouldnt take to long to get it up and running again..about 8 - 10 years
