HI Amanda, always good to have another female kombi owner.  Look forward to meeting you some time in the future on a meet.
Amanda

Thanks for the comments everyone. I should add a little more detail on my Kombi.

I am the 3rd owner of this vehicle. It is an Aussie model, built from a Knock Down Kit, before the vents were relocated above the beltline.

It was originally Beryl Green underneath the current paint job, which was done by the last owner because the paint got a bit worse for wear. It is still beryl green on the inside, as only the outside has been repainted.

Pretty much all the rubbers and seals have perished, which is common for a vehicle of this age so they will all need replacing (it rattles VERY badly Razz).

It has a bit of bondo in the front V section and driver door, and around the back rear corners, as I was told the first owner hit a dog. Its safe to say though, that there is no rust issues at all, apart from the rockers which will be replaced asap. Also once it is registered I will slowly, along with my Dad be repairing and properly fixing the bondo areas until it is back to its former glory.

I need to learn to drive her to as I only have an Automatic licence at the moment so I am really looking forward to that.

Also does anyone know how to go about a 'Classic Vehicle Registration'? as this will not be my daily driver.

Cheers,
Amanda

They are available to members of the VW Club of WA (and other motoring clubs) for limited use original vehicles.

They need to be inspected first (and annually) so you might as well just have it inspected straight away if it is unlicensed.

Checkout their website for further details and contacts;

Hi Amanda, welcome aboard good to see yet another Split in WA!

Good luck with your manual licence test - You could have a better reason and inspiration to get it.

My plans for it are to fix all previous repairs, fix the small amount of rust, and after reading up on how little usage I would be able to get out of a classic vehicle registration, drive her around. Theres plenty of room to put my cricket bag in the bag and be off to trainings.

After all the minor repairs have been done, ill be saving up for a paint job, back to its original Beryl Green colour, although I think I might keep a white roof.

sounds like a good plan amanda Cool i put full rego on all my vehicles, even though some dont get that much use, but didnt want all the restrictions of historic rego Rolling Eyes

Yep im still around, thinking hard about getting my Kombi ready for the October weekend and driving as a 'Learner' (hey i'd still be driving it right?). Just need to sort out my L's, and the work that needs doing. Been pretty busy with cricket and other things lately.

Well my kombi is now rego'd and drivable!! So I can make it to Muresk.

It is very fun to drive, and am doing quite well learning in it. I have learnt also that mine has the funny characteristic that to be able to get into gear one changing down from gear two, you must be at a COMPLETE stop.

I cant wait until Muresk! Very Happy

Amanda

There is a restaurant/cafe at Muresk and I will confirm opening times today. Northam is 11 k from Muresk.
There is 120 residential students and 29 staff on campus so times may have changed from website due to long weekend.
