Sorry - work has been making me ... well... work.
Mine is a 58 11 window. Big plans for her but it is all down to budget right now. Brad at busnbug is managing the resto project and stage one is well under way. Should be on the road very soon.
Where are the pics folks? I want to see your buses.
|
Kinga
|
Hey Rawdyn,
Did you have any luck finding a brother or sister for your split?
|
Rawdyn
|
Nope. 3.5 hour drive out there and the guy was a rude prick so I wished him luck and departed. It was a '61 11 window.
I figure I could hunt 50 times and find one or two so this is just one of the 48 off the list I have done already
|
Kinga
|
Fair enough, happy hunting.
|
BJ
|
What a waste off time you could have spent that on the one you've got
|
Rawdyn
|
Not really a waste. One can't expect every hunt to end in a positive result so you have to do a certain number of them and come up empty handed in order to one day find success. I figure it is just part of the cost of bagging one... eventually.
Besides me spending 7 hours on my bus.... I'd probably make it worse.

Never a waste of time going to visit a split in a field or barn etc.....
Oh - The excitement!!!
And if you don't go, you 'll never know (what is was like)

Nah, it's never too much.
Whenever I see your bus hoonin' around Perth it gets me motivated about getting mine going.

The only 'splitty' that I've ever owned was a 1957 D Series, 4 ton Bedford truck which was called Bootle Bumtrincket after a boat in Gerald Durell's novel, My Family and Other Animals.
It had a split windscreen.
That sort of qualifies. Doesn't it?

I can just picture it.... no VW badge on the front doesn't quite count, but sounds like it was well loved - having a name and all. Good on yer, nice try

I would surely think it had water sloshing around in it too and you know what a lot of peeps think of H2O.
Nice try shaihulud just the same.
Those Bedfords are great trucks though, my grandfather had one (i think it was a 60's model) that was set up like a gypsy camper in the back with jarrah floorboards.
Quite frankly it was a rather ugly looking thing, but a hoot to drive in.
It was previously owned by some Orange People so of course it was bright orange in colour.

Lovely!!!! That 13 window '67 looks straight as!
Do you do all the work on them yourself?
|
Roadcow

Thanks guys! I cheat and only buy the ones with little rust. Yes I do all of my own work, paint, body, engine, and interior. I just don't trust anyone else to do it and really can't afford to pay anyone else to do it. It can be very theraputic for me also. I love a challenge. It also gives me a good excuse to buy more tools!
