How handy are you? I suspect you will have difficulties finding one on-the-road for that price, although if they can be found anywhere it would probably be WA... If you can weld and are good at mechanical work then you might be lucky - otherwise, you might be better off looking for a lowlight or later bay (you could potentially get a great one for that price).

woah! i know nothing about welding etc. im of the female variety, u know how we are. thanks for the replys, i would be happy with a bay or lowlight, i just would prefer a splitty! i do want a camper but pref already decked out with the gear!
dont be afraid of getting your hands dirty or even picking up a welder, there are plenty of people on here to give advice or lend a hand. hope you find a good kombi _________________
Hi, you may need to find bout another $10.000 on top of what you wana pay for a splitty in fairly good nik (licienced) .......In the past few years, the price has gone radio rental
Anyway, if there is one that comes up for sale, then KK is a good place to look...ebay of course and the Quokka
You could get a quality bay for that price, kitted out wiv some nice interior...I want a bay, the walk through is priceless....
HI good luck with your search, I am afraid to say the same as VLKSWGN bargains are a thing of the past. There are many people on the hunt and especially for Splits.....even bays are being brought and exported now.
Don't let us put you off, as there are some folk out there that will only sell their beloved VW to someone they "like" ie a good home (not to someone in it for the money or a hoarder).

Get to know the Quokka, each week there are several listing and they are all over the place.
My mate at work hunts through and shows them to me each week.
I am surprised how many surface all the time.
One this week only had a week of license left, advertised at $1000.00 or near offer.
Once the rego runs out it is only a donor vehicle or a heck of a lot of work.
suggestion, grab a highlighter and scissors and search for a few weeks and start a scrap book, you will then get a feel for "what is going".

Thanks guys, yes got the quokka, there was a splitty in it under the vintage cars section for abit abouve 15000 if any one wants to have a look!
