I spotted this van ahead of me on Reid highway on the way to work, early on Monday morning. It turned into Malaga Drive, and I missed the light change.
I waited patiently and next turn signal followed and Kombi was stopped at the next lights turning right.
I also indicated right and followed.
Kombi then pulled into a lunch bar along Victoria Ave, I immediately followed and parked and took some photos, and put a KK leaflet on the front seat.
By then the late middle aged owner came out with the morning paper, I told him I was admiring his Kombi and a big smile wrapped around his weathered European face. He told me he was from Croatia.
He told me he has had his van for 23 years, and has just come back from holidays in Tasmania, (this being the second time he has been east in it).
His van was equipped with an original three way fridge, sink and bed, etc.
He doesn't put the pop up up, as he manages without.
He is running a 2000 litre motor with an electronic ignition, "listen to this" he exclaimed as he started the motor up, immediately firing with a nice pur.
I asked him to "The Day of the VW" and he said he would try and get there.
Monday evening, Driving west on Ocean Reef Road, hence the sun in the front windscreen.
I actually missed my Freeway entrance turn and followed until I got these photos.
