Hi there everyone. Good to be part of a site that is devoted to Kombis.
I have a an early 1968 lowlight , lotus white and all completely original, still have the original service and maintenance card, instruction manual and toolkit.
Bertha was bought brand new in Sept 1968 by my wifes grandparents.
My wife was bought home from hospital as a newborn in her in 1971 ( in the back on the floor in a wooden apple case.) So when our kids were born in 1996 and 1999 we borrowed her to bring them home too ( in safety capsules of course ). When my wifes grandma became too frail to drive her she passed Bertha on to us. I can't wipe the smile off my face every time I drive in her . Put a new motor in her about 9 years ago and haven't driven her a great deal in that time , so her engine is virtually brand new. My wifes family have absolutely no sentimental attachment to Bertha and think we are mad to keep hold of her. IDIOTS.
This weekend I'm going to start rubbing her back in readiness for a new paint job next spring. Gonna bring her back to her big beautiful former glory. So I'll be taking heaps of piccies of her in her original state and post them on the site.

Thanks Guys.
Good question about any old pictures of Bertha. I'll get the mother in law to trawl through all the old family photos. It would be awesome to see her as she used to be. I don't think the grandparents were great photographers, so fingers crossed.
