Link to Caravan Park at Stanley- we went to Stanley to see The Nut for a day trip and stayed for three.
Lovely historic town and terrific people-a place you must walk around.
Great cafe/restaraunts/food.
Great spots around the East Coast of Tassie. Everything from Coles Bay to "The Gardens" (North East of St Helens) is brilliant.
Rocks and River CA just before Coles Bay but North East of Swansea is pretty great.
Chain of Lagoons, between Bicheno and St Helens is amazing, but a little far from either of the nearest towns - a long way to go for ice, water or supplies. Still amazing beaches and great camping. Very spread out and plenty of little corners to claim as one's own!
Jennereat Beach and Cosy Corner, North East of St Helens are TO DIE FOR. Close to St Helens (10 minute drive) but also close to Binalong Bay with a divine 5* restaurant and other amenities. Great facilities within camping areas including clean drop toilets and built-in fire places. I would recommend this to anyone looking for absolute beach-front camping on an ocean that looks like the Tropics. Maybe slightly cooler, but warm enough for a swim, even in Spring! Water is aquamarine, sand is white, rock formations are grey and VIVID orange and there is not a cloud in the sky! Anyone who visits is bound to return!
The following campsites are ones that I stayed at in Tasmania. There were many more but back then I was not trying to update this site. Also I have no GPS references for these sites and no maps.
Interlaken
On Lake Sorell. There were no fees but the campsite had toilet facilities.
Lake Purbury
South of Queenstown. There are no facilities but you may catch a trout if you are lucky.
Hellyer
Travelling West towards Hellyer on the North coast there is a campsite next to the river on the right hand side over the road from the caravan park just before the river bridge. We camped there for a couple of nights without any issues. There are no facilities but it is free.
Fortesque Bay
The campsite is on the Eastern sid eof the Tasman Peninsula.

Hi a couple more camp sites on the east coast and lake areas.Absolutely beautiful.East Coast- Trout 1 upper Scamanda, Little beach between Scamanda and Chain of lagoons Also Arthurs Lake for the fishos amongst us.If you ever get there you would not be disappointed.

Hi Just a note on Little Beach. D0 NOT camp near river bed when lots of rain forecast. Most of the time bone dry BUT!!!! does flash flood when raining in catchment area is forecast.
We discuss a lot of places where you can just pull in and camp, including our own unique rating system. We will be adding more as we visit them, so check back often.
