I was in Colin Jamieson Drive in Welshpool today and drove past
Seat Belt Solutions and upholstery workshop and caught sight of a stripped down beetle get the works.
There was also a soft top beetle in the car park.
Sorry no pics on these.
I will have to find a reason to go back and have a chat.
This work shop also upholstered a Kombi about two years ago.
Friendly guys and lots of samples to show.
I visited them then to discuss retractable seat belts for my bay.
The owner also showed me the sound deading compound they put on the interior metal work, with the door cards removed, roof / ceiling, and every metal panel accessable.
He had a fully stripped Mazda or similar with "everything removed," and he had put this "silver backed black compound" every where.
It comes in 12 inch squares.
He gave me a demo with his work ute.
He said "hammer with your knuckles on the drivers door", it sounded tinny and hollow and noisy.
"Now do the samer to the other side."
It was like hammering with your knuckles on a solid brick wall.
Very impressive.
Maybe some one will post the name of this.
They sell it from there workshop.
They also do commercial earth moving equipment to comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements for decibel readings for protection for the plant operators.
They also had in ( two + years ago) a BMW getting the Guichi treatment,
The gold logo leather material was upholstered all over the new interior, carpet and soft top, and the paint work also featured the logo.
The owner of the business said " this guys got more money than brains...."
