Australia has many excellent SF writers - now there is a podcast with readings from some of these authors that is worth checking out:

One of my favorite SF authors, Greg Egan, is also Australian.... I have several of his novels, and they are both thought-provoking and entertaining.  You can read 21 of his short stories online at this wonderful (free!) site:
